OUR VISION
About Our Project
Ramadan Lights is a community-led initiative dedicated to bringing the warmth and wonder of the holy month to the streets of Mississauga, Brampton, and Toronto. Our mission is to illuminate our neighborhoods with magnificent light installations that celebrate our diversity and foster a spirit of belonging. Through the strength of communal donations, we turn these vibrant cities into glowing landscapes of peace, heritage, and joy for all residents to enjoy.

Why This Matters
For many Muslims, Ramadan is deeply meaningful, but often invisible outside of our homes and mosques. Ramadan Lights brings that tradition into shared public spaces, creating moments of recognition, curiosity, and connection. It’s about visibility, representation, and feeling seen, not just for Muslims, but for the broader community as well.

Who Is Behind This?
Ramadan Lights Canada is led by young people and powered entirely by community support. From concept to installation, every part of this project is driven by volunteers, donors, and supporters who believe that our public spaces should reflect the diversity of the people who live in them. Last year was the first year that Ramadan Lights was debuted, it ran only in Toronto at Nathan Phillips Square, and it was led by a group of high school students: Laila Soliman, Miraj Siddiqui, Ibrahim Rahman, Raheem Ebrahim, and Arquish Minhas.
